Top 3 Places to Shop in San Francisco

“Where do you shop in San Francisco?”

This is one of the number one questions I get asked and messaged on Instagram. I’ve been wanting to do this post for awhile, and I’m excited to finally share my perspective on the top 3 places to shop in San Francisco!

I’ve been in the Bay Area for about 3 years now (where has time gone!?), so I’ve had a little bit of time to adventure through San Francisco’s neighborhoods and identify the best the Bay has to offer. When I first moved here, I was always looking for a blog post that directed me to San Francisco’s best boutiques. Luckily, I’ve done the grunt work for you so you don’t have to spend 3 years searching for the top spots too!

When putting together this list, I considered the range in clothing assortment, decor/aesthetic, and friendliness/helpfulness of the staff. There is nothing better than incredible customer service at a well curated store to make you feel like a million bucks after a splurge.

Shopping can definitely be challenging in San Francisco if you don’t know where to look. I recommend wandering through Hayes Valley, on Fillmore Street and down Valencia Street (14th street through 20th) for small boutiques that are more unique to the city. There are other chain brands downtown, but I really think boutiques show the true character of the city. They also support local businesses (usually badass females!).

#1: LE POINT

The ultimate destination for high fashion apparel in San Francisco. Le Point is my favorite boutique in San Francisco for finding fashion inspiration straight from the runways. They carry brands like Staud, Opening Ceremony, Veda and Tibi. Their shoe and handbag assortment will stop you dead in your tracks and don’t get me started on their amazing dressing room area to model your head-to-toe look to your friends and the friendly staff for feedback.

I absolutely adore Le Point, and it’s in my favorite neighborhood (The Mission). Since I live in the area, I love strolling by on the weekends and checking all their new arrivals. Highly recommend shopping here then going to Shizen for the best sushi of your life afterwards for a total “treat. yo. self.” day.

#2: AZALEA

Azalea is a local boutique where you can find a curated selection of “normcool” style. They offer an incredible assortment of brands (RAINS, Agolde, Alexa Chung, CRAP Eyewear) along with their own collection. The team here is honestly so RAD and always throwing events at their stores in Hayes Valley and the Mission (my favorite neighborhoods in San Francisco). Both stores have different assortments to cater to the neighborhoods, and I shop at both stores for basics, accessories and statement pieces.

#3: Ruti

Ruti, the brand started by Ruti Zisser, is extremely near and dear to my heart. It was the first brand I collaborated with as a fashion blogger (walked in their runway show for fashion week). I’ve had the privilege of meeting Ruti a few times, and she is so delightful and unbelievably humble. An Israeli-American designer, her three rules for design are that her collections must always be cool, practical and flattering. Ruti is one of the only stores where my mom and I can both, without fail, find something both flattering and fashion-forward. Visiting a Ruti store is truly such a unique experience, and I highly recommend it as the perfect mother/daughter activity. I wrote more about visiting Ruti in my mother’s day post here.
